Integrated Pest Management Specialist
Matthew Gates is an Integrated Pest Management Specialist providing a holistic multidomain perspective to pest mitigation strategies. Operating as Zenthanol Consulting, Matthew has focused on Cannabis since 2010, advising on cultivation topics including contextual IPM best practices, Standard Operating Procedure, and Cannabis symbioses encompassing pests, beneficial organisms, and microbiome research.
Matthew is an advisory board member of the Cannabis Horticultural Association based in Humboldt, and regularly travels across the USA as well as internationally to evaluate cultivation sites for improved readiness against biosecurity threats. He has written articles for Terpenes and Testing and 1000 Watts, and he’s cited as a contributing editor in Ed Rosenthal’s “Marijuana Garden Saver: A field guide to identifying and correcting cannabis problems.” He’s also a Staff Writer for SKUNK Magazine.

Russell Pace is the founder and president of the Cannabis Horticultural Association (CHA) formed to study the horticultural science of cannabis and to help teach people how to grow clean high-grade organic cannabis around the world. He has been cultivating cannabis medicinally for over 20 years now and he has spent the last 13 years of his life in Humboldt County, CA studying Botany, Plant Physiology, Soil Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology. Soil Scientist & Licensed Pest Control Advisor
Lauren Quackenbush is a licensed pest control advisor and soil scientist with over a decade of farming experience, including five years designing beneficial predator programs, and disease treatment plans for cannabis growers in Hunboldt and Mendocino counties. Currently manages the pest, disease, and soil management programs for 700 acres of winegrapes in Napa and Sonoma.
